1. Obama's speech, and seeing ALL those people (I think I heard an estimate of 2 million? is that possible?) who were there. Some of my favorite parts of his speech:
*We will restore science to its rightful place,
*a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous
*We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers.
*we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.
*we can no longer afford indifference to the suffering outside our borders

2. W. flying away in a helicopter (to the tune of thousands singing, "Na Na, Hey Hey, Goodbye")

3. Wonderful, large knitting group, and lots of knitting done today (between knitting group and the inauguration). I finished the baby kimono and hat for the kids' art teacher:
